My Ice Cream Meal

One night my wife and I were having guests over for dinner.  I had previously found out that one of their favorite desserts was ice cream.  I have this amazing recipe for a custard ice cream that is basically egg yolks, sugar, cream and vanilla, which I made.  I also made homemade strawberry syrup with fresh strawberries.  After dinner I served the ice cream and syrup.  The ice cream is so good that both my guests ate half a bowl before realizing the amazing strawberry syrup that went with it.  Lets just say that my guests were very impressed. 

The next day as I was getting ready for dinner, I thought that ice cream sounded pretty darn good.  So much so that I pulled out the remaining homemade ice cream.  There was about two or three scoops remaining.  I grabbed a spoon and started eating.  Wouldn’t you know it but I finished off that delicious ice cream.  Then I asked myself what my body needed.  I felt that I needed a little protein.  I ate some cashews and that was it.  I was full.  That was it for the night.  Probably not the best nutrition wise, but those were all the calories I needed for the rest of the night.  Because I had a substantial breakfast that morning, I was good.  I did not over eat and being that I ate early in the evening my body had time to process the ice cream before I retired for the night. 

What I learned is that my core really had reset.  I did not need to keep eating just for the sake of eating.  My spirit will gave me the answer I needed as I asked and listened for the answer.
